MetBuoy #2 Deployment

In December 2021, Avangrid deployed a second AXYS Technologies Inc. Wind Sentinel buoy to the Kitty Hawk lease area to collect real-time meteorological and ocean data in a manner that maximizes compatibility with the ocean environment. This seasonal data is an important basis for energy production assessments and feeds into the detailed design and selection of the project's foundations and wind turbine generators. Deployment of two buoys over the course of two years in two locations in the lease area allowed for data calibration in long-term analyses. Both buoys were removed upon conclusion of the investigation in each location.
